The Rebirth of the Magic Pan History of the Firedome

The original bike was an ex-Oakland PD 1956 Panhead. Syd Desoto chopped it and added the turbo, with the engraving and gold plating. He later rebuilt it with Delkon cases and a 96 CI kit. It went thru a few customizations before it became the Magic Pan, a show winner in 1975. After it won, a promoter rented it from Syd to travel around to bike shows. In 1987, the bike was done traveling and was reunited with Syd, who continued to ride it and modify it, swapping the panhead for a shovelhead. Over time, the parts on the Magic Pan weathered and wore out and many things needed replacing or were unable to be rebuilt. Syd passed away in 1995 from skin cancer and left the magic pan in the hands of his good friend, George Grenley. George saw the work of Torrid Kustomz and trusted Matt to rebuild this into a show bike it once was and to carry on the legacy of Syd Desoto.

This is what the bike looked like when Matt received it in 2016.
